Since ancient times, the peridot has been regarded as the symbol of the
sun. The Greeks believed that it brought royal dignity upon its
wearer. During the Middle Ages, a peridot strung on the hair of an
ass and attached to the left arm was believed to ward off evil spirits.
Today,
the peridot is believed to promote abundance and prosperity. It is
also known for its calming properties and allegedly boosts the immune
system.
Friendship Balls were traditionally made by glass
blowers at the end of their shift with left over glass, given to family
and friends to attract good luck and friendship: they make a
beautiful gift.
